On October 18, 2004 our life changed forever, that was the day that our Daughter Alexis received her heart transplant that she had been waiting for since April 1, 2004. It was a hard time for both my husband and myself. He had to quit his job to be with Lexi at UCLA full time while I stayed in SD, continuing to provide for my family. I only got to spend time with my family on the weekends when I would drive up on friday night after work and drive back Sunday mornings, so that I could make it to work. It was hard, for 6 months we did this. All of our friends and family were very supportive.
This, Lexi's 3 year anniversary is a milestone for her. She has only had 1 episode of rejection and we caught it early so it didn't effect her donor heart to much. She is the joy of our life and the glue that keeps us together. I wish for nothing more that for her to continue to be healthy and continue to learn.
I will forever love you Lexi, and to the little boy that lost his life to save my little girl, you will forever be in my heart, thoughts and prayers..........
